Hi everyone! Many of you may remember me from last year as Ms. Sillavo, but I got married over the summer and have changed my name to Mrs. Skognes. I am SO excited to meet all of you next week and begin a wonderful year together. The first day of school is on Wednesday, August 12th. Class begins at 7:49 and ends at 11:15. After you drop off your child, head down to the park to enjoy Rio's annual "Back to School Coffee" hosted by the Parent Alliance. I'd also like to invite all of you to attend a Kindergarten Orientation on Tuesday morning (I'll post the exact time as soon as I find out). This will give you and your child a chance to come by to see the classroom, meet me and hopefully settle any nervous feelings that your child may be having.
If you've already started school shopping, please buy your child a REGULAR sized backpack that can fit a lunchbox, homework folder and a sweatshirt. Make sure to label ALL of these items (especially clothing). And for safety reasons, please NO rolling backpacks.
I've already purchased homework folders and most classroom supplies (crayons, journals, ect.) for the students, however I do need cleaning supplies- which you will learn that I ask for numerous times throughout the year in order to keep everyone healthy! So please check out my Wish List, located to the left of this posting, and bring at least one of the cleaning items to school.
